It is important that your pet get the proper minerals and vitamins to maintain good health. Since I make my dog’s food, I wanted to ensure I was providing the needed supplements. Calcium is a mineral that helps your dog’s growth and promotes strong bones and teeth and a healthy heart and nervous system. Animals don’t produce calcium naturally, so providing this mineral through their food is important. See below for my calcium supplement recipe. I sprinkle some onto my dog’s breakfast each morning. Also, check out my dog food recipe. Enjoy!

10 Full Eggshells
Directions
- Heat oven to 300 degrees.
- Wash the eggshells and dry them as best as you can.
- Spread the eggshells on a parchment-lined cookie sheet pan.
- Bake between 10 and 15 minutes or until dry. Let them cool for a bit.
- Add eggshells to a coffee mill and pulse into a fine powder. A mortar and pestle can also grind the eggshells into fine powder.
- Store in an air-tight container for up to two months in the refrigerator.
Notes
- Pet Dosage: 1/8 teaspoon for every 10 pounds, so at 24 pounds, I give my dog 1/4 teaspoon sprinkled over his morning breakfast. I don’t give the exact amount of calcium as my dog eats spinach or broccoli daily, and both have a lot of calcium.
- Always check with your dog’s veterinarian for suitable multivitamins and supplements.
